In the field of modern pipeline welding, the setting of welding temperature is one of the key factors to ensure welding quality. For different pipe materials and specifications, the adjustment of welding temperature must be based on the physical properties of the material and the manufacturer's technical parameters. Plastic materials such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) have significant differences in melting points and thermal properties, so when performing electrofusion welding, the relevant technical specifications must be strictly followed. Generally, the welding temperature range of PE pipes is 200°C to 220°C, while the welding temperature of PP pipes is relatively high. Operators need to have a deep understanding of the characteristics of the materials used in order to select the appropriate welding temperature.
During the welding process, temperature uniformity is also crucial. The temperature of the welding area must be consistent to ensure that the welding material can be fully melted and form a strong bond. If the temperature distribution in the welding area is uneven, it may cause defects such as bubbles and interlayers, which will affect the strength and sealing performance of the welded connection. Therefore, operators should reasonably set the current and time of the electrofusion welding equipment during welding to achieve uniform temperature distribution and ensure welding quality.
Before welding, preheating treatment is also an important part of temperature control. In low temperature environments, the hardness of pipeline materials increases, which may lead to poor melting effect during welding. Preheating the welding area can improve the fluidity of the material and thus improve the welding effect. The preheating temperature and time should be adjusted according to the specific environmental conditions and material characteristics to ensure the best melting effect during welding.
Real-time monitoring of welding temperature is another important measure to ensure welding quality. Modern electrofusion welding equipment is usually equipped with a temperature monitoring system that can display the welding temperature in real time. Operators should regularly check the temperature display of the equipment to ensure that the temperature during welding is always kept within the set range. When abnormal temperature is found, welding must be stopped immediately, the cause must be found and adjusted. The accuracy and reliability of the temperature monitoring system directly affect the welding quality, so when selecting welding equipment, those with high-precision temperature control functions should be given priority.
The impact of environmental factors on welding temperature should not be ignored. In extreme climatic conditions, such as high temperature, low temperature or humid environment, temperature control during welding may be disturbed. For example, in a low temperature environment, the fluidity of the material is reduced, and the melting effect during welding may become unsatisfactory; while in a high temperature environment, the material may be over-melted, resulting in welding defects. Therefore, operators should fully evaluate the environmental conditions before welding and adjust welding parameters according to actual conditions to ensure welding quality.
